Initially, the majority of the OSSIE project was developed by unpaid student volunteers. The National Science Foundation now supports ongoing development of the core framework, rapid prototyping tools, research libraries, and SDR education resources. In addition, several of the developers have been funded through open-ended sources throughout the development of this project. The following have provided financial or in-kind support:
